This report evaluates provincial government promises over the past decade as they relate to sustaining fresh water. It focuses on commitments from the provincial Living Water Smart plan, but also includes promises and recommendations made in mandate letters, recommendations from external bodies, and beyond.
While there has been some notable headway on implementation, the research reveals that nearly one-third of Living Water Smart commitments have seen minimal progress to date. The authors lay out three key actions to set B.C. on course towards greater water security.
