Indigenous people need place around Site C table: new report

The Times Colonist ran an article about how collaborative consent can offer a path forward for decision-making on a project such as the Site C hydroelectric dam. Merrell-Ann Phare, founding executive director of the Centre for Indigenous Environmental Resources and co-author of the report Collaborative Consent and British Columbia’s Water: Towards Watershed Co-Governance (September 2017), was interviewed for the article, saying, “…it becomes important to recognize First Nations’ rightful place in the decision-making. And that goes beyond mere consultations—it means a place at the table when and where decisions are made.”
