She values lived experiences and is passionate about fostering empowerment, connecting communities to the stewardship of local resources, and building a future that is climate-resilient, sustainable, and socially just.
Taya was born and raised in Victoria, B.C. Before beginning her studies at the University of Victoria, she spent time travelling, both internationally and within Canada. Her favourite experiences include volunteering on a Wildlife Reserve in South Africa, as well as backpacking throughout Thailand. Taya enjoys reading, playing guitar, photography, and spending ample time in the outdoors, whether she is camping, hiking, or surfing. Taya aspires to deepen her knowledge and experience, both personally and professionally, and is excited to work alongside the POLIS team.
