Hailey Chutter joined the POLIS Water Sustainability Project in 2023 as a Communications and Research Assistant. As a work study student she carries out research support, and assists with virtual and in-person events. She is an undergraduate student double majoring in political science and environmental studies, with a strong interest in Indigenous studies and place-based work.
Hailey is drawn to community organizing, and took a leadership position at the Divest UVic student campaign during its first successful divestment of a $256-million working capital fund from fossil fuels in 2021. She also held the position as a co-organizer for Old Growth Vancity, a grassroots group formed in her home city of Vancouver to raise awareness and fundraise for the protection of old growth forests.
In her free time, Hailey enjoys creativity and nature-based hobbies and runs the non-profit Wildflower Finds with her sister. Their initiative raises funds and awareness for grassroots environmental campaigns and Indigenous educators and land defenders.
