Andrea grew up in Secwepemc territory and cares deeply about the land and the people on it. She relishes working in a multidisciplinary context; working at critical intersection points of people, policy, and practice and wearing a variety of “hats.”
A policy analyst by training (MPP SFU), Andrea brings a muscular attitude to problem solving and an open, thoughtful ear to the parties involved. Privileged to live on a family ranch near Savona, she and her family live and work on the land and have seen the catastrophic implications of climate change and wildfire up close.
Andrea has experience working with industry, serving as policy advisor to the BC Cattlemen’s Association; in academia working as sessional lecturer at Thompson Rivers University, where she teaches Natural Resource Policy and Planning; in land, water, and wildlife conservation, where she has worked for non-governmental organizations, including Ducks Unlimited Canada; with the philanthropic sector; and on several boards and committees, including the Ministers’ Wildlife Advisory Council.
As a mother and avid outdoorswoman, Andrea wants to see her children continue to enjoy the outdoors as she does so much.
