This letter provides initial comments from the University of Victoria’s POLIS Water Sustainability
Project regarding the provincial government’s proposed changes to natural resource
permitting. It focuses on three water-related permitting changes:
- Low volume water use without an authorization.
- Low volume water use streamlined authorization process
- Expediting existing use groundwater applications
This letter was submitted to the Water Stewardship and Security Branch, B.C. Ministry of Land, Water, and Resource Stewardship on October 17th, 2025 and it will be updated before the December 2025 deadline.
