Abstract
Developing solutions to complex water issues is one of Canada’s major policy challenges and should be a government priority for the coming decade. British Columbia in particular is at a critical moment: with a new government in place and a comprehensive legal framework for water (the 2016 Water Sustainability Act), the Province has a window of opportunity to embark on a bold new freshwater agenda. This article provides the context and rationale for a provincial focus on water, and shares key elements from a ten-step plan for B.C.’s new government to implement a revitalized water agenda, based on robust management and governance approaches.
