What: Virtual Event
Date: June 5th, 2018
Watersheds 2018 will be a half-day virtual event that builds directly on the learnings and successes of Watersheds 2014 and Watersheds 2016. Using the innovative Adobe Connect platform, this online event will showcase existing watershed governance initiatives and offer opportunities for discussion about emerging issues related to water-centric land use planning. Participants will be part of the dialogue and learn more about programs and strategies from other regions.
This online event will have an overarching focus on “planning for success,” water-centric land use, and building robust and innovative partnerships. The agenda will blend practical insights from those working on the ground (and in the water) with big ideas and emerging innovative solutions from across B.C. and other regions.
A keynote presentation will be given by Deborah Curran (Associate Professor, Faculty of Law, University of Victoria; Acting Executive Director, Environmental Law Centre, University of Victoria) and Val Napoleon (Associate Professor and Law Foundation Professor of Aboriginal Justice and Governance, Faculty of Law, University of Victoria) on the emerging priority of water-centric planning and Indigenous water law.
