Student Event Nurtures Relationships and Inspires Action

POLIS team invited to Environmental Roundtable

Published On: March 17th, 2025

Several members of the POLIS team were pleased to support the annual Environmental Roundtable, hosted by the University of Victoria Sustainability Project (UVSP) in March 2025. This annual, student-run event brings together UVic students, campus initiatives, and local community groups who care deeply about sustainability.

This theme of this year’s Roundtable was Nurturing Relationships, Inspiring Action. It was brought to life through thought-provoking presentations by speakers Loreisa Lepine, Drew Elves, and Justin Rhoden, as well as facilitated discussions to share ideas and build connections for a more sustainable future. Conversations focused on climate justice, food sovereignty, and community organizing.

A highlight of the event was the delicious “rescued” meal created from dumpster diving, showing how much food is commonly wasted and can be reclaimed to nourish us through our collective action.

POLIS was among several organizations invited to share information and opportunities with students through tabling and conversation. The event offered an opportunity for the POLIS team to dive deeper into exploring how we can support the next generation of water and sustainability leaders to nurture relationships, strengthen communities, and take impactful action for sustainability.
