Calling Young Artists, Writers & Photographers!

Ripples Youth Art Zine 2025

Published On: January 15th, 2025

We are thrilled to be supporting the University of Victoria Sustainability Project and NatureKids BC in producing Ripples, a youth art zine to celebrate World Water Day!

What is Ripples?

This project calls for young artists, writers, and photographers (aged 6 – 25) to join us in creating a collection of artistic works that celebrate human connection to water.

Part love letter and part call to action, Ripples captures the beauty and ecological significance of the watersheds that cradle the paces we call home. In an age that is being shaped by rapid climate change, the relationships between young people and water are also changing rapidly — especially when considering our relationships to water held in ice.

This Year’s Theme

Ripples is released annually on World Water Day to celebrate this important day and the many calls to action that it represents. This year, the theme for World Water Day is “Glacier Preservation” and the theme chosen for Ripples is “Stories Told By Ice.”

Exploring the intrinsic interconnectedness of humans and water, with a special emphasis on ice, Ripples 2025 will be a celebration, collaborative reflection, invitation to rethink watershed governance, and an urgent reminder that action is needed to support the health of our watersheds — including our ice, snow, and glaciers — now and into the future.
