We are excited to welcome Kamilla Hindmarch, Rheanne Kroschinsky, and Kallalei Ryden to the POLIS family!
Kamilla Hindmarch is a marine biology and environmental studies student at the University of Victoria, who joined the POLIS team as a work study student in fall 2024. Kamilla has a passion for community-driven environmental solutions, and has had the opportunity to work with a variety of conservation projects, including kelp restoration on the Sunshine Coast. She also enjoys blending art with biology by creating engaging artwork that raises awareness about the natural world and conservation efforts.
Rheanne Kroschinsky recently joined the POLIS team as a visiting governance graduate student fellow. She is a water governance researcher currently pursuing her PhD at the University of British Columbia, Okanagan. Her academic work, made possible through the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and the University of British Columbia, Okanagan, explores governance and decision-making frameworks for community (source) watersheds in British Columbia. Through partnership with Syilx communities and the District of Peachland, her research centers on the Watershed Ecosystems Project, a community-engaged research initiative in Peachland, B.C.
Kallalei (ka-la-lay) Ryden has been working as a POLIS research assistant since spring 2024, supporting both the POLIS Wildfire Resilience Project and POLIS Water Sustainability Project. She is entering her final year as an undergrad at the University of Victoria, where she is completing a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Environmental Studies. Kallalei plans to next pursue a Master’s degree or environmental law. She is also a UVic Varsity athlete on the Vikes Cross Country and Track team.
