Watersheds 2018—Planning for Success: New Thinking for Land Use & Water Governance

Date: June 4th, 2018 - June 6th, 2018

Where: Smithers, BC

Watersheds 2018 will be a 2.5-day hands-on event taking place June 4th to 6th, 2018 in Smithers, B.C. It will build directly on the learnings and successes of Watersheds 2014 and Watersheds 2016. Through panel sessions, field trips, breakout workshops, and structured peer-to-peer learning, participants will build skills and enhance capacity for watershed governance in British Columbia.

Watersheds 2018 will have an overarching focus on “planning for success,” water-centric land use, and building robust and innovative partnerships. The agenda will blend practical insights from those working on the ground (and in the water) with big ideas and emerging innovative solutions from across B.C. and other regions.

We expect that Watersheds 2018 will attract approximately 150 diverse presenters and delegates from across British Columbia and beyond, including watershed groups, First Nations, researchers, professional resource managers, and decision-makers at all levels of government. There will also be opportunities for participants to network and learn from each other about programs and strategies from other regions.
