WHAT: The Climate Nexus: Water, Food, Energy & Biodiversity
DATE: Tuesday, April 26th, 2016
TIME: 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. PT ( 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET)
Secure supplies of water, food and energy are essential to human dignity and well-being around the globe. In turn, the vitality of these three depends on a thriving biodiversity supported by healthy ecosystems. The complex interdependence among these four factors is known as the Nexus.
In this webinar, speakers Dr. Jon O’Riordan (Senior Policy and Research Advisor, SFU Adaptation to Climate Change Team) and Robert Sandford (Author; EPCOR Chair for Water and Climate Security) will share insights from their recent publication “The Climate Nexus: Water, Food, Energy and Biodiversity in a Changing World.” In their presentation, the speakers will highlight how changing hydro-climate systems are creating a crisis for the Nexus elements, and will discuss the range of transformative policies required to manage this crisis.
This webinar is the fourth instalment in the 2015/2016 Creating a Blue Dialogue webinar series. It will build on the 2014/2015 season and the January 2014 report "A Blueprint for Watershed Governance in British Columbia," which focused on nine “winning conditions” needed to move towards a more sophisticated approach to watershed governance.
