The WSP’s Creating a Blue Dialogue webinar series brings together expert water practitioners and thinkers, as well as emerging water leaders, to engage with innovative ideas on water policy and governance in Canada. Each year’s series consists of five webinars and features invited expert guest speakers from across North America to present on key emerging and hot topics.
By creating an online community of interest, the webinar series serves to strengthen the national capacity to engage with and solve problems, and raises awareness about emerging Canadian water issues, best practices, and policies.
Creating a Blue Dialogue was launched in 2010. To view archived recordings of all the Creating a Blue Dialogue webinars click here.
The Future of Water Law, Policy, and Governance in Canada is a multi-year project that builds capacity and empowers action for leadership focused on water sustainability. It emphasizes good public policy, water conservation, and innovative forms of watershed governance.
Through this project, the WSP identifies and implements new models and approaches to modernized water policy and governance. The primary objectives are to provide high quality and contextually relevant water sustainability and governance research, and to mobilize a broad suite of actors to ensure action and follow-through on commitments to water law and policy reform.
Since the release of British Columbia’s Living Water Smart Plan in 2008, much of the WSP's Future of Water Law, Policy, and Governance in Canada work has focused on B.C.’s Water Act modernization process.

The WaterSmart Toolkit for Communities brings together a variety of practical resources for community leaders, municipal staff, and local decision makers. It consists of the WSP’s publications and materials focused on informing and improving water conservation practices in cities and towns across the country. The toolkit represents an easy-to-access library of resources designed to support communities as they transition from supply-side management to more long-term, integrated water conservation planning. The toolkit was developed to help municipal staff and community leaders plan and implement effective conservation initiatives to ensure a sustainable water future.
